It’s a theater-filled weekend in and around Detroit this weekend with productions at the Tipping Point Theatre in Northville, Detroit Public Theatre, Baldwin Theatre in Royal Oak and the Detroit Opera House. Plus, Stevie Wonder performs at Little Caesars Arena, 97.9 WJLB presents the All-Star Comedy Festival, and there’s an upcoming Detroit Artists Market art auction. Upcoming Events:

The Tipping Point Theatre in Northville presents “Grand Horizons,” a play that explores love and aging. The play runs through Oct. 20.  

The Detroit Public Theatre opens its 10th anniversary season with the Pulitzer Prize-winning play “Fat Ham,” a comedy that puts a modern spin on Shakespeare’s “Hamlet.” It runs through Nov. 3. 

Stagecrafters is putting on a production of “The Woman in Black,” a play about ghostly encounters and hidden secrets, at the Baldwin Theatre 2nd Stage in Royal Oak. The play runs Oct. 18-27.  

The radio station 97.9 WJLB presents the All-Star Comedy Festival at the Fox Theatre on Oct. 19, featuring comedians Michael Blackson, Lavell Crawford, Earthquake, Jess Hilarious, Arnez J and Kevin Tate. 

A modernized version of composer Giuseppe Verdi’s “La Traviata” will be performed at the Detroit Opera House on Oct. 19, Oct. 25 and Oct. 27.  

The Detroit Artists Market hosts its Gala Art Auction on Oct. 19. The evening includes artwork, discussions and a chance to support the Detroit Artist Market’s mission.  

The exhibit “The Art of Dining: Food Culture in the Islamic World” is now open at the Detroit Institute of Arts through Jan. 5, 2025. The exhibit houses 230 works from the Middle East, Egypt, Central and South Asia and more.  

Legendary musician Stevie Wonder performs his concert “Sing Your Song! As We Fix Our Nation’s Broken Heart” at Little Caesar’s Arena in Detroit on Oct. 22.
