FUN FACT: Michigan is one of the only places in the world that makes ice wine

Hey, it’s JB!

I eat out perhaps more frequently than the average person and I still find myself intimidated by certain spaces in the food scene, one of them being the wine bar.

“Biodynamic” and “natural” wines, tinned fish, crusty sourdough, and a bill more than a nice dinner out – my experience with tinned fish starts and ends with my grandpa cooking sardines and seasoned rice as a low-cost meal. I admit, I haven’t been to Bar Chenin, the new wine club downtown in the Siren Hotel that everyone has been raving about.

Luckily, there’s a new club on the block – the Hospitality Included Wine Club.

Amid the exponentially growing wine bar and garden scene in Detroit, the club seeks to make sure the space is inclusive and to bridge the gap between these oenophiles (wine lovers, I had to look it up) and the wider community.

The very first event is this Monday at Ladder 4 Wine Bar and will feature a wine list created by Detroit artist Tony Whlgn and Bar Chenin owner Nick Arone, with Michigan & Trumbull pizza. No tickets or reservations required.

Cheers, and see you there?

Dig In,
JB
