BridgeDetroit has added a new reporter to its team to cover politics, policy and city government.
Jasmine C. Snow will lead coverage of Detroit City Council, the mayor’s office and the police department. She will also serve as the primary voice for the Detroit City Notebook newsletter moving forward.
Jasmine was previously a lead research assistant with the LIFT Project, a research organization working to improve community and local media relationships across the Midwest via trusted messengers. She also just finished a stint as an inaugural Community Reporting Fellow with the Institute for Journalism and Natural Resources.
Jasmine holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and American studies from the University of Minnesota and a master’s degree in journalism from Michigan State University. Her reporting has appeared in the Minnesota Star Tribune, APM Reports, the Minnesota Spokesman-Recorder and the Minnesota Daily, among others.
In her new role, Jasmine will use her research and storytelling skills to hold the systems meant to serve community members accountable. She is most passionate about reporting with and for underrepresented and marginalized groups, including BIPOC, women and femmes, LGBTQ+ communities, and people with disabilities. She lives for telling stories with and for the communities she loves and lives alongside — whether that be data-driven accountability reporting, or representation-rich features centered in joy.
Jasmine is a new resident of Detroit. A South Dakota native, she has also lived in Minneapolis, Minn., and East Lansing.
The hire returns the BridgeDetroit staff to three reporters and one shared reporter with the Detroit Free Press.

BridgeDetroit’s publisher, The Center for Michigan, has also hired Rose Cramton as membership specialist with the Revenue and Operations team. In this role, she will support members and individual donors to Bridge Michigan and BridgeDetroit.
She previously worked at the Urban Institute in Washington, D.C., as a Development Associate and interned at the Bipartisan Policy Center and Downtown Boxing Gym in Detroit.
Rose grew up in metro Detroit and studied in Ann Arbor.
