With our fall crowdfunding campaign kicking off this week, I want to take a moment and thank loyal BridgeDetroit readers like you.

When we launched BridgeDetroit just over one year ago, it was hard to predict what the response of Detroit readers would be. Would you find us? Would you find our reporting useful and relevant to your life? More than 450 readers have chosen to not only read our content, but also donate to support our nonprofit journalism for Detroiters, by Detroiters. All of the great journalism you’ve read from our passionate team happened because of the support of readers just like you

But this growth also requires additional resources to fund it. Over the next two weeks, we are seeking to raise $5,000 to support our coverage of Detroit’s November election.

This support will allow our team to follow the candidates running to represent you in the mayor, city council, clerk, board of police commissioners, and community advisory council races. We’ll be asking Detroit residents about their priorities and asking the candidates for these positions how to plan to respond to their potential constituents’ needs. Detroit government and politics are two of the topics BridgeDetroit readers told us are top priorities in our most recent reader survey and we’re excited to be able to deliver even more coverage in this area.

Will you support our crowdfunding campaign?

Thank you for being a BridgeDetroit reader and for considering this request.
