BridgeDetroit spent the summer listening to young people and finding out what they really want to know more about.
The result is an eight-page zine created in collaboration with and for youth who want to be more involved in their city. A Guide to Civic Engagement provides tips on preparing to vote, finding job opportunities, reaching representatives at all levels of the government and making your voice heard at City Council meetings.
The advice may be geared toward teens, but the information is good for anyone.
The zine also includes findings from our Youth Engagement Survey, which has been active all summer and has had more than 400 responses from young people around the city. The survey remains open, and if you’d like to share your thoughts, go here.
The zine was designed to be printed and folded into a booklet. Get a downloadable and printable copy here. Copies will soon be available at Detroit library branches and at all BridgeDetroit events.
