It’s the 22nd year for Bookstock, metro Detroit’s largest used book and media sale, taking place at Laurel Park Place April 26 – May 3. Host Stephen Henderson sits down with Bookstock Honorary Chairperson Neal Rubin from the Detroit Free Press, along with last year’s Bookstock essay contest winner, Skylar Chapman, and her teacher at Cooke STEM Academy Kristeen Holmes.
Rubin reflects on the history of the event, and he talks about the literacy and education projects that are funded through the proceeds from the massive sale. Chapman discusses the winning essay she wrote last year in 4th grade, and Holmes talks about how reading will impact students’ lives forever.
