The annual celebration of Black cinema is back for its seventh year. The Detroit Black Film Festival takes place at various locations in the city from September 23-27. Host Stephen Henderson sits down with the film festival’s co-directors, Marshalle and Lazar Favors, and one of the filmmakers, Zachary Cunningham.
They talk about what’s in store for attendees this year, the types of films that will be screened, and the “Taste of Black Spirits” event that takes place during the festival. Cunningham reflects on his career as a filmmaker and describes some of the movies he has created. He also offers advice for aspiring filmmakers.
