We’re dedicating the entire show to the legendary all-Black World War II fighter squadron known as the Tuskegee Airmen.
Host Stephen Henderson speaks with NPR investigative journalist Cheryl Thompson about her book, “Forgotten Souls: The Search for the Lost Tuskegee Airmen.” In the book, Thompson, the daughter of a Tuskegee Airman, explores the stories of 27 of the Black combat pilots who went missing in action during final missions in Europe. She talks about the investigation into their disappearance, the impact on their families, and the racial injustice experienced by the Tuskegee Airmen.
