Five years ago, in May 2020, BridgeDetroit was born with a singular mission: to create journalism that truly reflects and serves Detroit’s communities. With our spring fundraising campaign now underway, we’re not just looking ahead to a new season—we’re celebrating five years of connecting Detroiters with vital information and with each other.
Five years later, we’ve built a newsroom that reflects Detroit’s population, reaches residents through multiple platforms, and shapes its coverage around what Detroiters themselves say they need.
In our five years of service, we’ve reached over 65,000 monthly visitors, launched our quarterly print magazine for residents without reliable internet access, and built meaningful partnerships with faith communities across the city. Our commitment to amplifying Detroit’s diverse perspectives has only grown stronger with each passing year.
Looking ahead to the rest of 2025, your anniversary support will enable us to:
- Host “Meet the Candidates” events this spring in each Council District for residents to join us for a series of conversations with candidates who are running for City Council and the Board of Police Commissioners
- Convene more community conversations across Detroit to hear directly from residents
- Continue to publish BridgeDetroit Magazine to reach Detroiters without reliable internet access
Quality journalism takes resources, dedication and community support. As we celebrate five years of service to Detroit and look ahead to the next five, your contribution ensures that our community-centered journalism can continue to thrive. Our 5th anniversary spring campaign aims to raise $7,000 by May 16 to fund these essential initiatives.
Will you help us celebrate 5 years of community journalism and launch our next chapter?
Your contribution does more than sustain our newsroom—it honors five years of building connections in Detroit and helps ensure we can continue this vital work for many years to come. When you support BridgeDetroit, you invest in a more informed, connected, and empowered Detroit.
