Hundreds converged on the Cartoons & Stereo festival Saturday for a one-of-a-kind celebration of the city’s growing skateboarding scene, while spotlighting artists who push the boundaries of hip-hop and alternative music, carving out their own lanes in the culture.
With a nine-foot rim dunk contest, a pop-up skatepark, vintage clothing market and local food trucks, Cartoons & Stereo, Detroit artist Stoop Lee shook up the city’s festival scene.
Held at Big Pink Detroit, the festival featured performances by Lee, Zelooperz, Pink Siifu, Datsunn (w/ Local Organic), Curtis Roach, Rob Apollo, Pia The Band, & Shaii David. with live DJ sets after dark.
