Actor and Detroit-area native Brian Taylor joins host Stephen Henderson to talk about his role as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in the production of “The Mountaintop” currently playing at Detroit Public Theatre through March 8. The award-winning, two-person play reimagines the events that took place on the night before Dr. King’s assassination in 1968.
Taylor talks about working with an acting coach to prepare for the role, and he explains what he studied about Dr. King to get into character. Taylor offers his thoughts on Dr. King’s accomplishments and contributions and what he hopes audiences take away from seeing the play. He also reflects on his own acting journey and some of the other works he has participated in at Detroit Public Theatre.
